Abstract:

 

A new approach for using household detergent against Culex sp. Mosquitoes was developed. The household detergent which has sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate 14.4% and sodium lauryl ether sulfate 3.6% as its component was diluted with water. Various concentrations have been tested in laboratory. The optimum does is found at 20% At this concentration has been examined in the field trial by hand sprayer space sprayer at mosquito resting place and directly sprayed to adult mosquitoes during human bait. The adult mortality was 82.6% when detergent was space sprayed at the rate of 3.9 gm/m3 and 76% when it was sprayed directly at mosquitoes at the rate of 0.67 gm/mosquito.
