Abstract:

A study of species composition of mosquitoes was carried out before the ecological changes of area before the construction of the dam. Adult and larval mosquitoes were collected from breeding places at the Mu l, Mu 2 and Mu 3 of Banthadan, Nakhon Nayok province during February, 1994 to January, 1995. The results showed that 54 species of mosquitoes were obtained 15 species of mosquito were the medically importance, they were the vectors of haemorrhagic fever, Malaria, Encephalitis and Filariasis. However, the outbreak of disease in this area was Malaria, but the cases of malaria could be reduced because of the surveillance and control. It is expected that after the construction of the dam the ecology of the area would be changed therefore the study will be done again perhaps in 1998.
