National Institute of Health is a section under Department of Medical Sciences, located at 88/7 Tiwanon Road, Tambon Taladkwan, Muang District, Nonthaburi Province 11000. It is set up on July 8, 1997 by merging Virus Research Institute, Former National Institute of Health, Clinical Pathology Division, Medical Entomology Division, and a part of Toxicology on the order of the government gazette.
According to the government gazette issue 4, book 119, section 103 A, page 65 (book 3) 9 October 2002 appendix 1, National Institute of Health has the authority and function “to provide services of laboratory analysis testing; laboratory investigation testing for confirmation for example bacteria, virus, parasite; laboratory health testing such as genetic diseases, toxicology, biochemistry; laboratory for customer protection for example testing for disease carrier eradication product and services of laboratory skill assessment.”
With the purpose of achieving the goal of Department of Medical Sciences, National Institute of Health will operate laboratory testing activities, quality and academic development, and intradivision administration according to the ISO 15189:2007, ISO/IEC 17025:2005, ISO 9001:2000 and ILAC- G13:2007. It will be in accordance with the needs of internal and external clients as well as will follow the evaluation principle of the certifying division.
The quality system operated in National Institute of Health will cover both the in-building laboratories and the mobile ones.
